For the past few weeks we've been examining electronic educational resources for both students and teachers. Your educator "sensors" for relevance and value have been developing. Criteria has been coming together in relation to:

Student content and determining/evaluating matches with:

• Contribution to the Overall Curriculum- meaningful learning taks
• Wise Use of Instructional Time- efficient methods that accelerate learning
• Student Engagement- interesting tasks that establish a love for learning

Educator content and determining/evaluating matches with:

• Progress Monitoring- helps teachers track and understand student progress
• Idea/Resource Locator- assists edducators in their efforts to meet the needs of all students
• Extends Support- offers educators greater opportunities to network with other professionals
• Other Tasks- helps teachers in the managment of their day to day work

This week's activity involves examination of the "best of the best" web resources in education. You are to look at the list offered by, "Sites for Teachers- Hundreds of Educational Web Sites Rated by Popularity," at the following address:

Your task is to go through the lists and find the top three student resources and the top three teachers resources based on your perspectives and the criteria listed above. Post your recommendations and the rationale for these selections in the Class Discussion Area titled: "Top 100 Websites- Best of the Best." You are not required to respond to others in this week's activity postings.

Criteria for evaluating your posting for this week's assignment:

1) Six educational websites are presented with their titles and universal resource locator (url) addresses (http://www.example.edu). Three of the sites are for students and three are for teachers.

2) Background information is shared about each site. Who produces and maintains the site? What is their motivation for doing this?

3) Your rationale for selecting this site is shared. Why did you select this site?
