- effects on host by virtue of virus activity, transmission
- usefulness re: general knowledge, genetic engineering --- ----a--- applications

Texts: Wagner & Hewlett and Ackermann; recommended: Brown , Bioinformatics

based on average expectation of solid preparation in foundation courses: 3 hr/unit outside of class = 12 hr/wk
