AMERICAN HOSPITAL OF PARIS FOUNDATION. The American Hospital of Paris Foundation is looking to start a Bay Area chapter of its Junior Committee. The Foundation’s Junior Committee is made up of a diverse group of civic-minded young professionals (aged 20s through 30s) who all want to advance the American Hospital of Paris, both as an important symbol of Franco-American friendship and as an international medical resource. This is done by hosting fundraising events and other activities in the area. (ENGLISH VERSION BELOW) Bonjour a tous, Vous avez sans doute entendu parler de l'association Education Francaise Bay Area (EFBA) qui s'occupe de mettre en place des cours de Francais Langue Maternelle en activite periscolaire, dans les ecoles americaines www.efba.us. Ces cours, ludiques sont encadres par des enseignants diplomes de l'education nationale francaise (ou d'un pays francophone) et permettent aux enfants de consolider leur francais et d'apprendre a l'ecrire. ENGLISH VERSION: Education Francaise Bay Area is a nonprofit created in April 2009 that provides affordable, quality French classes to French speaking children that do not attend the French private schools. Our after school programs are meant to consolidate bilingualism and help children learn to write in their maternal (sometimes paternal) language. They are held in public schools. We are partially funded by the French government. We are all volunteers except the teachers and assistants. We are launching 11 programs in 10 different towns of the Bay Area in the Fall (including Marin, San Francisco, the Peninsula, the East Bay, and the South Bay). ARTISTS RESIDENCIES PROGRAM AT THE CITE INTERNATIONALE UNIVERSITAIRE DE PARIS. This residency program is designed principally for non-French artists. The young lady (Charlene) is 17, with one year remaining at her lycee. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HAVING YOUR CHILD SING AND ACT IN FRENCH IN A FRENCH MUSICAL? We are open for Registration until December 1st. Our production will be Le Roi Soleil , the story of the great king Louis the Fourteenth. The songs are wonderful and there is room for astonishing staging. We will perform, as usual, with live musicians. We rehearse a few groups separately and put them together towards the end. The group of " actors/singers" will be rehearsing on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 5:30 pm ( 4th graders and up) . For the a "chorus "group , you may select either Mondays or Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 pm ( kindergarten and up) We also have a group of older singers, rehearsing on Saturday afternoons. Rehearsal period: We will start rehearsals the first week of December. This period ( December) is when we unfold the story and we introduce the songs. We will then begin rehearsals with acting on January 5. There will be 2 performances at the Marin Center Showcase Theater on Saturday May 9, 2009 . The first performance will be at 3 PM and the second will follow at 7:30 PM. This is the day before Mothers' Day. We are aware that some children will have other commitments that will end in December, making it difficult for them to attend our classes. For this reason, we offer a catch-up class every Saturday mornings in December. This is only for the initial storytelling period and there will be no such catch-up after the start of the actual rehearsals in January. Cost: -$80 /per month/ per child in a" chorus", or "Saturday singers", ( for a total of 5 months); -$ 120 /per month/ per "singer/actor",( for a total of 5 months) At the time of registration, we will also collect $20 per family which will cover the cost of the musical CD of Le Roi Soleil. This CD will be a learning tool for your child for the duration of the rehearsals, and they will keep it in their possession.
