5. Educate yourself further.  Study groups on sustainable living, voluntary simplicity, sense of place, deep ecology, and globalization, are available through the Northern California Earth Institute, based in the Hutchins School – 664-3179, www.sonoma.edu/hutchins/ncei. (These study groups are a great way to build community).

 

6. Volunteer for the 2004 Presidential campaign, and vote!

 

7. Join Moveon.org for email updates on current political issues and opportunities for electronic activism. www.moveon.org

 

8. . Minimize your intake of commercial media, replacing it with independent, non-commercial sources.

9. Support a thriving local culture. Attend (or contribute to) open mikes, book talks, community festivals, local theatrical and musical performances. Support street musicians. Build community with pot-lucks, music and poetry circles.
