GRADING POLICY


Graded Assignments (Essays)


STUDY GUIDE #1

(10% of Final Grade):  Annotated Bibliography. What foundational knowledge will you need to pursue your personal and professional goals in psychology? Conduct a library/on-line/campus resource search that locates at least nine(9) items (including at least 3 books, 3 articles, and 3 on-line sources) that help you develop an outline of the foundational knowledge you will need. Describe your personal/profesional goals and compile an annotated bibliography of the sources you find. List the references using APA reference style (see handout) and include detailed description of where the source is located and how you found it.


STUDY GUIDE #2

(25% of final letter grade): Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the behaviorisms of John B. Watson, Edward C. Tolman, Clark L. Hull, and B. F. Skinner. In discussing Skiiner, include the readings from Walden Two and Beyoned Freedom and Dignit. Document using APA reference style.


STUDY GUIDE #3

(25% of final letter grade):  What is psychoanalysis? Why is it an important contribution to contemporary culture?


STUDY GUIDE #4

(15% of final letter grade):  Create an glossary of the key terms in Gestalt psychology.  Why are these concepts important in the history of psychology?


STUDY GUIDE #5

Graded Assignment (25% of final letter grade, due finals week):  Final paper or class presentation presentation on a topic which you choose and research.  Include a discussion of the historical background of your topic



Recycling: You may recycle a graded paper as many tmes as you wish, as long as you return it within two weeks of receiving the paper back from the instructor (or Finals Week if there are less than two weeks after receiving an evaluation of your paper).

Credit/No Credit Assignments

Credit/No Credit Assignments are included in the Study Guides. Failure to complete one of these assignments will lower your final letter grade 1/3 grade point.

In addition, there will be in-class writing and short homework assignments designed to help you do well on your written assignments, but there is no penalty for faiilure to complete these assignments.

Attendance & Participation Requirement:

Attendance will be recorded starting the third week of class. Students will be permitted two unexcused absences. After that, each unexcused absence will lower the final grade 1/3 grade point.
