Taking the first steps toward recovery from an alcohol or drug problem often looks as hard as scaling a mountain. There may, in fact, be a mountain of problems--hurt feelings, worry, pain or debt- to be surmounted. This can seem like an impossible task as long as drinking or drug use continues.
The good news is that recovery is possible. With the right supports, recovery is even probable. Since 1949, thousands of people have found hope and help at Mountain Vista Farm.
The first step is finding out what the issue really is. If you call us, we can talk with you confidentially to help you assess the seriousness of the problem. You might prefer to come meet with us in person.
If the issue is a "drinking problem" or "substance abuse," education and support is probably enough. We can refer you to appropriate resources. However, if addiction has taken hold, you'll need stronger supports. You will need to turn your attention to recovery2 seriously enough and long enough. Mountain Vista Farm can help you do that.
The social model treatment program at Mountain Vista Farm has been in continuous operation for over 50 years. Our live-in program offers the sturdiest support for the early days of recovery, when the urge to return to alcohol or drugs may be strong.
If you need detoxification from a physically addicting drug, our Medical Director supervises the process. The detoxification program lets you withdraw safely in an understanding, compassionate environment. During withdrawal, our treatment team will assess your progress. Our team includes our physician, a psychological consultant and our chemical dependency counselors.
We will engage you in rehabilitation as soon as possible, often even on the first day. Our schedule includes a variety of activities: educational lectures, group and individual counseling, relapse prevention training and participation in 12 Step support groups. The four-week therapeutic program is balanced with recreation and wellness classes, often conducted in the outdoor pool.
Your family is included in treatment because they also need information, support and healing. Sunday is always "Family Day, when your significant others are invited (with your permission) to participate in an educational and support group. At some point during treatment, your family will join you and your counselor for special process called. "Letters from the Heart."
Recovery takes time. Our continuing care (Aftercare) groups offer support for your first two years of recovery. Groups are held weekly in various Bay Area locations. Also, clients may return to Mountain Vista Farm occasionally for renewal retreats, or "Sobriety Weekends.
Mountain Vista Farm also offers outpatient and day treatment programs for those clients who need counseling and education, but are able to continue living at home and working.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program involves clients in a structured program three days per week, three hours per day at Mountain Vista Farm. Outpatients are usually involved for four full weeks.
The Day Treatment Program provides a more intensive treatment option, but still allows clients to live at home. Because day treatment requires attendance five full days per week, clients are not usually able to work during treatment.
Flexible programming allows for movement among programs. Some clients are best served with a period of residential treatment, followed by a transfer to outpatient work and then on to Aftercare. Our purpose is to match clients with the level of care they need.
Many insurance plans cover treatment at Mountain Vista Farm. Our admissions staff will be happy to communicate with your insurance company and let you know about your coverage. Many clients are able to cover the costs of treatment themselves, since we work to keep our costs low and our fees accessible.
We are here 24 hours a day. You can reach us any time by calling:
