Given a line and a point not on the line, to construct a line
through the given point parallel to the given line.
We will present three methods of performing this construction.
- Dropping a perpendicular from the given
point to the given line and erecting a perpendicular from the
given point on the perpendicular line.
- Constructing a parallelogram with one side
on the given line and the opposite side going through the given
point.
- Drawing a line from the given point to
the given line and copying the angle that line makes with the
given line at the given point to get alternate interior angles to
be congruent.
