Friday, August 29th

  • Beach Bonfire @Goat Rock Beach; Vans leave @5:00pm from the flagpole
    Kick off this year by joining Outdoor Pursuits in our annual bonfire celebration at Goat Rock Beach. This is a great chance for incoming freshman, or anyone new to SSU, to meet the ODP staff and become a part of the SSU community. Please bring your drums, guitars, didgeridoos, good spirits, and dancing feet.
    We'll provide a ride for the first 24 people to sign up in the Outdoor Resource Center, firewood, and s'mores for all. There will also be directions in the ORC for those of you who want to meet us out there; please carpool. We will be meeting at the flagpole at the main entrance to campus at 4:45pm, leaving by 5pm, and returning to campus by 11pm. Please do not bring any drugs or alcohol. Saturday, August 30th

  • Trip to the SF Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) Featuring The Art of Frida Kahlo - Vans leave at 8:45am from in front of Police Services; $7.50 w/ RSA; $10 w/o - includes docent led tour of collection @11am - Kahlo's folkloric style, influenced by Mexican popular art, and her fantastical imagery earned her recognition among the Surrealists, but her intriguing persona and unmistakable originality propelled her beyond the confines of a specific movement to become a leading figure in modern art. This exhibition, commemorating the centennial of the artist's birth, brings together paintings that span her career, along with a selection of her own collection of photographs, most of which have never been on public display.

Saturday, September 6th

  • Pomo Canyon Hike with Outdoor Pursuits! - vans leave @9am from the flagpole
    Come with ODP for a moderate and beautiful day of hiking. These 6 miles of trail will take you through Redwood forests, rolling grasslands and ridges, and finally to the staggering views of the Sonoma Coast at Shell Beach. We provide knowledgeable guides, transportation from SSU, and an organic lunch. Don't miss this opportunity to make some new friends and enjoy the outdoors right here in Sonoma County. There are a very limited number of spots on this trip and it is on a first come first serve basis. Pre-Trip Meeting: Wed September 3rd @ 7pm in the ORC
  • Bouldering at Turtle Rock with Outdoor Pursuits! vans leave @9am from the flagpole
    Bring a lunch and come climb with Outdoor Pursuits! This is a great chance to get outside and climb on some local rock. Located in Marin County this spot offers awesome bouldering for all levels and views of the San Francisco Bay that you wont soon forget. We provide experienced guides, transportation from SSU, bouldering pads, and rock climbing shoes if needed. If your tired of pulling on plastic in the gym, are looking to climb with some new folks, and want to explore more local climbing areas, than this trip is for you. Pre-Trip: Wednesday September 3rd at 7pm meet in the ORC.

    Alcatraz Island offers a close-up look at the site of the first lighthouse and US fort on the West Coast, the infamous federal penitentiary long off-limits to the public, and the 18 month occupation by Indians of All Tribes which saved the tribes.
