Monday, August 25th - FIRST DAY

    Student Convocation is a festive welcome to the new class by the faculty of Sonoma State. It features an academic procession (if you've never seen one, you should) of faculty in their traditional ceremonial garb and a welcome to the new students by one of Sonoma's recipients of the Rowland Award for Excellence in Teaching.

    Meet in the Health Center Lobby for a behind-the-scenes tour of your Student Health Center! Meet staff and learn about the medical diagnosis and treatment, pharmacy, lab, x-ray, and preventive health services available to students.

    Join the SSU faculty for a lunch out by the University Lakes. Lunch is free for all new students.

    Want to kick of the year with a bang?! SSU's inaugural Son Fest brings together health and fitness games and activities with local and on campus vendors along with everything else the Rec has to offer. Come receive a free massage, compete in a 3-point contest, walk away with free merchandise, and listen to live music featuring local reggae group, Sol Horizon, with 8,500 of your closest friends!

    Come meet & mingle with many community & campus-based spiritual organizations and churches. This is an occasion for all faiths, denominations, and places of spiritual practice to show SSU what spiritual opportunities are available in the Rohnert Park area!

    Involved in your High School ASB? Interested in getting involved in your Village Council? Each Village has a council to deal with issues that come up, provide some funding and programming and it's just a great place to meet other students! Come find out how to make a difference in the community. Elected positions and other ways to get involved will be discussed.

    All undeclared and EOP students who are on academic probation are required to attend one of the workshops offered. All other majors are encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required to attend a workshop. Just show up! Bring a print-out of your unofficial transcripts to the workshop. You are encouraged to bring a calculator and a laptop if you have them.

  • Beach Bonfirebonfire @Goat Rock Beach; Vans leave @5:00pm from the flagpole
    Kick off this year by joining Outdoor Pursuits in our annual bonfire celebration at Goat Rock Beach. This is a great chance for incoming freshman, or anyone new to SSU, to meet the ODP staff and become a part of the SSU community. Please bring your drums, guitars, didgeridoos, good spirits, and dancing feet.
    We'll provide a ride for the first 24 people to sign up in the Outdoor Resource Center, firewood, and s'mores for all. There will also be directions in the ORC for those of you who want to meet us out there; please carpool. We will be meeting at the flagpole at the main entrance to campus at 4:45pm, leaving by 5pm, and returning to campus by 11pm. Please do not bring any drugs or alcohol. Sign up in ORC for rides in van
