Weill Hall Setting for Educational Outreach Days

Two music invitationals for high school singers and jazz players will take place in Weill Hall on Nov. 6 and 8. The daylong events are open to the public and will culminate with evening performances. On Tuesday, Nov. 6, Sonoma State Director of Choral Activities Jenny Bent will host the 11th Annual High School Choral Festival. Four hundred high school choristers from Sonoma and Marin counties will perform before guest adjudicator Dr. Richard Robert Rossi, director of choral and orchestral activities at Eastern Illinois University.

A free evening performance beginning at 7:30 p.m. will feature the SSU Chamber Singers conducted by Jenny Bent. For information email bentje@sonoma.edu.

On Thursday, Nov. 8, SSU Jazz Studies director Doug Leibinger will host the inaugural Sonoma State Jazz Day. Invited high school jazz players from throughout the North Bay will perform for and interact with members of the SSU Jazz faculty in Weill Hall. Family and friends are welcome to stay and listen.

The day closes with a 7:30 p.m. performance by the Faculty Jazz Ensemble co-led by Doug Leibinger and George Marsh. Tickets for the Faculty Jazz Ensemble $10-$15 will be sold. Call x4-2353 for details.
