CSU Mandates Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act
As a result of amendments to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and the issuance of Executive Order 1083 (Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect), all CSU employees now have an obligation to report suspected or known incidents of child abuse or neglect.
Over the next few weeks you will be provided with detailed information about the law and your reporting obligations. This information will include a form to acknowledge your review of the information and an understanding of your obligation to comply with CANRA. You will be required to sign and return this form to your designated campus official.
Clearly this law is intended to provide a safe environment for our children and will enhance our own awareness of and responsibility to report suspected abuse and neglect. Your prompt attention to this matter will not only help the CSU maintain compliance with CANRA, but will help keep our campuses safe for children and students.
