Faculty and staff are encouraged to be a part of Commencement day on Saturday, May 10. The 9 a.m. ceremony is for the Schools of Science & Technology and Social Sciences. The 3 p.m. afternoon ceremony is for the Schools of Arts & Humanities, Business and Economics, and Education.
University Affairs is looking for faculty and staff to support Commencement day and help make this event memorable for the class of 2014. Commencement is a day when the University celebrates students accomplishments with their friends and families. The success of the day depends entirely on the good work of employees of SSU; those people who interact and support students throughout their years with SSU.
Below are the expectations for staff employees on Commencement day:
All managers (MPP) are required to work Commencement day. Preferences will be accommodated as much as possible. MPPs who are unable to work Commencement should seek approval from their vice president and let the firstname.lastname@example.org know as soon as possible.
Exempt staff (non-MPPs) are encouraged to work Commencement day. Managers of exempt staff may authorize informal time off in accordance with staff bargaining contracts.
Volunteers (non-MPP, non-exempt) who wish to work at one or both of the ceremonies, should seek approval of their manager as CTO or overtime will be accrued.
The University simply could not have a successful event with out each faculty and staff. Please contact email@example.com with your availability and job preference by March 14.
