New Additions to Student Academic Services
The Office of Undergraduate Studies is delighted to welcome several new members to our Student Academic Services team. Each of them brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and enthusiasm to Sonoma State University.
Vanessa is a new Academic Advisor at the Academic Advising Center. She received her M.S. in Educational Counseling from National University, B.A. in Hutchins School of Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University and A.A. from the Santa Rosa Junior College. Vanessa has worked with the University for the past two plus years as an Outreach Coordinator and Advisor for Academic Talent Search. She is thrilled and honored to continue her career with Sonoma State and looks forward to helping students clarify their path towards success.
Alvin Nguyen is the new Sophomore Year Experience (SYE) coordinator. He is originally from San Jose and has worked in Residential Life at San Jose State, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Suffolk University, and has been the Residential Life Coordinator at Sonoma State since 2011. Alvin received his M.A. in Educational Leadership: Higher Educational Administration from San Jose State and his B.A. in Organizational Communication Studies from Sacramento State. Alvin is passionate about developing student leadership and living-learning communities. His hobbies include spending time with family, playing music, and enjoying the outdoors in Sonoma County.
Colleen Mahoney is the new Orientation and New Family Programs Coordinator. She received her BA in Psychology from University of Arizona and her M.Ed. in Educational Leadership (Higher Education) from Northern Arizona University. Colleen is new to California and enjoys good food and wine and spending time outside. She also enjoys cooking with her husband and playing with their dogs.
Ann Mansfield is the new Career Services Advisor at the Career Center. She received her Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel. Ann is interested in all aspects of student’s co-curricular experience, and happy to be at Sonoma State. She spends her free time with family and friends, and enjoys gardening, cooking and exploring what Sonoma County has to offer.
Khou is the new part time Academic Advisor for the Advising Center in Salazar and spends half of her time working in the Office of Residential Life as a Residential Life Coordinator for Zinfandel Village. She received her Master of Science degree from Indiana State University in 2010 in Student Affairs and Higher Education. She graduated from Sonoma State University in 2006 and received her BA in American Multicultural Studies. Khou has been working at SSU since 2012 and enjoys being able to give back to her community and working closely with students, staff, and faculty.
Ariana Diaz De Leon
Ariana is the new Administrative Assistant for Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies, Dr. John Kornfeld, as well as the Recruitment Specialist for Faculty Affairs. She is a graduate of Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Social Work and began the MPA program at Sonoma State this semester. Ariana enjoys reading and spending time with her family and is enjoying getting to know all aspects of Sonoma State.
