School of Extended and International Education
The School of Extended and International Education houses the following departments and programs:
- Multiple Certificate Programs, including Wine Business Tasting Room Management, Construction Management, Green Building, Sustainable Landscape and Post-MA Family Nurse programs
- EXCEL for Youth
- Liberal Studies BA Degree Completion Program
- MAs in Depth Psychology, Interdisciplinary Studies: Action for a Viable Future, Organization Psychology, and Spanish
- MS in Computer and Engineering Science
- MSW in Social Work
- Patient Navigator Certificate Program
- Sonoma State American Language Institute
- Summer Reading Program
In 2007-08 the School of Extended and International Education provided more than 400 academic courses; 12 professional certificates including Wine Business, Paralegal Training, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Green Building, and Sustainable Landscaping; awarded over 2,500 Continuing Education Units; and two Bachelors and six Masters Degree programs with online, hybrid and face-to-face formats.
Extended and International Education maintains the preeminent national Osher Lifelong Learning Institute which offers courses and special cultural events to more than 1,500 individuals per year who are 50 years old or better.
The Sonoma State American Language Institute provides American/English Language Programs for more than 200 foreign students from 23 different countries around the world per year. For more than a quarter century, Extended and International Education has provided the highest quality academic classes for more than 18,000 regional youth (grades 4-9) on the SSU campus.
Extended and International Education provides flexible course delivery and schedules through Special Sessions, Intersession, Open University, Extension and online course delivery which accelerates degree completion.
Extended and International Education provides Sonoma County and the region with entrepreneurial program development, outreach and engagement in the form of grants, economic development contracts and specialized degree opportunities.
Extended and International Education provides specialized credit and non-credit education, training, and other instructional services for business, government, international and community education.
