From performing, visual and media arts to literature and the humanities, students often ignite lifelong passions in the School of Arts and Humanities.

Our departments offer students a wide variety of degree programs, including a range of Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Music, several minors and three Master of Arts degrees. In addition, students can earn skill-based certificates that supplement their degrees. Our faculty members are award-winning experts and leaders in their fields.

Students learn by creating, performing and by reflecting on life-changing ideas. The School of Arts and Humanities is alive with activities, exhibitions and productions throughout the year. The School of Arts and Humanities is also home to world class faculty with an extraordinary breadth and depth of scholarship on the politics and realities of race and gender in America.

Through research and an ever-expanding body of published works, our faculty continue to produce knowledge that strengthens and deepens our grasp of the past to prepare students to create a more just, balanced and strengthened world. Sonoma State faculty have made social and racial justice a centerpiece of their scholarly focus.
