Cassandra Trminell-Ehrilich - The Grooming Center

Nigeria, Africa - Summer 2010

The Grooming People for a Better Livelihood Center [] serves the Nigerian community with economic support through micro financing. . . . services are exclusively avaialbe to entrepreneurial individuals that are financillay unstable . . . . it gives women the boose they needed in order for their businesses to flourish . . . for various women, these loans were [used] to provide 'healthcare' and a healthier living so that they are strong enough to work at their fullest potential.. . . .

I made a personal effort to work with as many staff members and clients as possible to learn more about the different procedures (including collecting information) needed to assist clients and the types of dilemmas clients faced. Many of these clients had stories of hardships with their businesses as well as surviving wtih little money in their household. . . .

Working with the Grooming Center opened my eyes to the types of problems people deal with in Nigeria . . . .[it] reaffirmed my goal of opening my own NGO and making my own contributions to Nigeria. . . .
