Welcome To The Learning Center
The Learning Center is a multi-purpose center providing a variety of academic support services for SSU students, including tutorial services as well as specialized programs for first generation, low-income, or disabled students. The Student Learning Center includes the following services:
The Tutorial Center provides individual and small group learning assistance in a broad range academic subjects. Students interested in tutoring need to complete a Tutoring Intake form and make appointments at least one day in advance. Appointments are 50 minutes in length. Services are free of charge.
Learning Skills Services
Learning Skills Services is a federally funded TRiO Student Support Services program that provides a comprehensive array of academic and personal support services for first-generation, low-income and/or disabled students in order to help students reach their goal of graduating with a bachelor's degree within 6 years.
Multilingual Learners Program
Multilingual Learners is a TRiO program designed to offer further instructional support to students whose first language is something other than English, or students who learned English at the same time as another language.
The NoGAP/McNair Scholars program is a National Graduate School Achievement Program funded by a federal TRiO grant. This program helps support 25 SSU undergraduates to continue their post-secondary studies at a Ph.D. granting institution of their choice. Eligible students must be low-income and first-generation college students of belong to an underrepresented ethnic group.
