SSU and USAF Bands to Perform Joint Concert at Santa Rosa High School

A very special concert on Oct. 18 brings together the Sonoma State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. Reserve your ticket now for the 7:30 p.m. concert at Santa Rosa High School auditorium.

Tickets are free of charge but required for admission.

People may call the SSU Box Office at 707-664-2353 for assistance or go online and print their own free tickets from Brown Paper Tickets. To find the link, go to http://www.sonoma.edu/music and click on Get Tix.

Any remaining tickets will be available at the door, though early arrival is encouraged.

SSU band director Andy Collinsworth has selected an American theme to showcase the 50-member collegiate ensemble. The centerpiece of the SSU portion of the concert will be Morton Gould's quintessential "American Salute" - a virtuosic styling of the folk tune "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."

Air Force Captain Haley Anderson will lead the Band of the Golden West in a diverse program culminating in the joint performance of two Sousa marches, "The Thunderer" and "When the Boys Come Sailing Home."

Dr. Collinsworth is in his fourth year as director of bands and music education at SSU, having taught music locally for nearly 20 years, most recently at Maria Carrillo High School.

The SSU band is a thriving mix of music majors, students majoring in other fields, as well as members of the community. For more information contact Dr. Collinsworth at racworth@sonoma.edu or visit http://www.sonoma.edu/music.
