CELEBRATORY COMMUNITY WEEKEND FEATURES MORE THAN 100 ARTISTS IN TEN FREE CONCERTS Come celebrate the grand opening of our beautiful new recital hall, Schroeder Hall! The Department of Music hosts free mini-concerts all day long. Parking charges will be waived for opening weekend.
Admission is free to the weekend concerts, but advance tickets are required.
Tickets are available to the public beginning Tuesday, August 12 at 10 a.m. and can be reserved in person at the SSU Box Office, online, or over the phone at 866-955-6040. A limited quantity of tickets will be held for walk-up sale.

Sonoma State Faculty Jazz Ensemble

Solo Piano Recital

Concert pianist Jeffrey Kahane performs Beethoven’s “Pathetique” Piano Sonata in C Minor and works by Chopin.

Solo Organ Recital

Inaugural Organ Recital: Opening Remarks by James David Christie on the hall’s centerpiece Brombaugh Opus Nine Organ and a performance of Baroque music from the 16th and 17th century.
A Tribute to Charlie Brown

The Russian late-Romantic composer Sergei Taneyev was torn between two established and opposing musical schools: Moscow and St. Petersburg. His Trio in D Major brings out the best of both with pathos and intensity.
Brass, Organ And Voice Recital

A stellar lineup of opera star Ruth Ann Swenson, guest organists from the East Coast, symphonic brass soloists, and the SSU Brass Ensemble top off the Opening Weekend festivities with music by Gabrieli, Handel, Vivaldi, Schubert and the premiere piece for brass and organ.
