About Us

The School of Performing Arts coordinates the performance activities of the Music Department and Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, providing artistic administration, development, marketing and promotions, facility management and ticket office operations, as well as technical support in scenery, costumes, makeup, lighting and sound.

The Center manages five distinct performance and rehearsal venues and  sponsors both on and off campus performances by university performing arts groups as well as a guest artist series.

CPA presents more than 140 performances each academic year, with an annual attendance of more than 10,000 people.  In addition, the Center sponsors special benefit performances and an Evert B. Person Scholarship recipients’ showcase.

In addition, each semester CPA presents a number of student-initiated projects in dance, drama, and music, including weekly noon-hour recitals and concerts.

Since its inception, the Center has provided venues and support for a variety of campus activities, including convocations, lectures, conferences and events sponsored by:

  • Residential Life
  • Student clubs
  • Academic departments 

Many off-campus groups rent the Center’s facilities for meetings, conferences, ballet, theatre, dance and music performances.

The Center’s ticket office is located in the Evert B. Person Theatre.  Reserved seat tickets are available for selected performances.  Discount rates on all tickets for students, senior citizens, faculty, staff and groups are in effect for all performances.  Free tickets are available for all Sonoma State University students attending School of Performing Arts-sponsored events.
