Considering Sense of Belonging in the Mathematics Classroom through two Lenses: Sense of belonging in the mathematics classroom is important to learning and can impact whether a student stays in STEM. Many factors contribute to belonging. This talk considers two projects: how microaggressions appear for college mathematics students, and how care is received by them. Both perspectives help students understand their mathematics experiences while informing instructors about how students develop, or do not develop, a sense of belonging in the mathematics classroom. Open to all students, faculty, and community members.
