Wilderness Welcome Program 2016
What is the WWP?
The Wilderness Welcome Program (WWP) has been exploring the outdoors since 2003. In addition to Summer Orientation, WWP serves as an optional outdoor orientation for incoming freshmen and is organized through Sonoma State University’s Campus Recreation Center. Trips are guided by trained, experienced, emergency-certified leaders who will help you transition into college. This is a great opportunity to make new friends, decompress, and re-focus yourself for your first semester experience. You do NOT need to be an experienced backpacker/ climber/ kayaker to participate in WWP. The trips are designed for all levels of experience and everyone will find them rewarding. The primary goal of WWP is to help ease the transition into life at SSU.
We invite you to join us for an experience that many students say is one of the most formative and important of their time at Sonoma State University. On WWP, you will sleep under the stars, share stories and songs around the campfire, create a new tight-knit community of friends, enjoy discovering the California landscape, and spend time discussing what life at SSU will be like. For more information, visit the FAQ page, or head on over to the Sign-Up page!
