Dear Campus Community:

It is with great sadness that I report the tragic loss of a member of our Seawolf family. Luis Cid, a junior student in Sonoma State’s prelicensure nursing program, died last week on January 21. Luis was a vibrant and beloved young man who was full of promise and potential. Please join us in sharing our sympathy and most sincere condolences with Luis’s family and friends.

Please know that counseling support is available for students, faculty and staff who desire to speak with someone. Students are encouraged to reach out to SSU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at (707) 664-2153. Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of counseling services provided through the SSU Employee Assistance Program.

If you are aware of someone in distress, please feel free to contact CAPS, CARE Team, or the Office of the Dean of Students.

The death of a student is always difficult to understand and accept. Please take care of yourselves and those around you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Wm. Gregory Sawyer
Vice President for Student Affairs
