Internship Description

Job Title: Volunteer Advocate

Compensation: Paid
Amount/Type: $50 stipend per month per client
Internship Length: 1 year
Hours Per Week: 4 hours per client

Population: Adults
Focus:Autism, Developmental Disabilities
Setting: Agency, Sonoma developmental Center

-Represent and advocate for residents at Sonoma Development Center.

-Get to know the client and visit them at least 4 hours per month.

-Must attend meetings regarding their client.

-Knowledge of developmental disabilities.

- Able to work with interdisciplinary teams.

-Feel comfortable advocating for rights and needs of SDC residents.

-Must have recent TB test results.

Additional Information: Volunteer Advocates will have finger prints taken. Advocates will be given orientation and training by Volunteer Advocacy Coordinator. Advocate/Intern will be assigned a mentor as part of the training.
