Applause Awards
Customer
Services Staff
I wanted to recognize the wonderful customer
service provided by our very own stellar Customer Services Staff.
No matter what issues or service is required all the ladies in
the office, front line, support staff and management, continue
to impress and at times awe me with their professional calm, cool,
and collected attitude.
Due to the high level
of confidentiality of many issues that have been resolved,
I would like to generally recognize their entire body of
work. Any time anybody has any questions, any fees or payments,
registration questions and/or problems, and any issues or
challenges with all aspects of University Life, these Customer
Service Queens rise to the occasion.
I have worked in customer service in
a variety of intense environments, yet I have never worked
with this advanced level of excellence. Thank you for inspiring
me to be excited about my job every day I enter 1000 Salazar.

Alan Snyder
Facilities On behalf of all of us here in Admissions
and Records, I would like to thank and commend Alan Snyder
for the beautiful job he did constructing our new security
door. He built exactly what we asked for and the end result
even exceeded our expectations. Great job, Alan!
I would also like to thank the following people for their work
on this project. They not only helped to make the door very functional
and look great, but they also made sure that the work was done
in a timely manner, which we really appreciate! Thank you to Kevin
Martin, Paul Lange, Kevin Dahlstedt, Dustin Mollo, Harvey Delorm
and Rich Marker. You guys are the best!!
- Vicki Johnson, Administrative Coordinator
Will Sykes
Information Technology, IT Consultant
Although Will's efforts were not directly
visible to most of the campus, it was due to his diligence
and efforts, along with his technical skills, that we were
able to diagnose the problems with our recent effort to migrate
our Windows Domain to a new domain.
Will was responsible for not only coming
up with the cause of the problem but he also developed the
initial solutions which we used to get people back up and
running.

 Picasso
vs. Einstein
Two giants in the fields of art and physics are only 22 years
old when they meet in a Paris bar — that is the premise for a zany
comedy about Picasso and Einstein written by comedian Steve Martin
and to be staged at the Evert B. Person Theatre beginning April
28 at 7 p.m. "Picasso
at the Lapin Agile" runs through May 8. Tickets for faculty,
alumni and staff are $12. Above is Picasso (played by Damian
Sugastume) with Suzanne (Jennifer Luker) and Germaine (Deah Toby).

WASC Accreditation Public Forum
Scheduled for Campus Community
The campus community is invited to attend a public
forum from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 in the Evert B. Person
Theatre to solicit discussion on proposed themes for the WASC accreditation
effort.
The Accreditation Review Steering Committee , co-chaired
by Provost Eduardo Ochoa and professor Andy Merrifield, Political Science,
invites input into possible themes for the Institutional
Proposal, which will guide the entire accreditation review process.
These themes should address institutional priorities
and needs and they should be comprehensive, involving several areas of
the university. At least one of the themes selected must address student
learning, and they must have appropriate scope and consequence for
the University.
Ideas for themes or issues may be submitted directly
to the ARSC committee prior to the public forum. Submit brief suggestions
to elaine.sundberg@sonoma.edu.

Jazz Benefit Concert and Silent
Auction For Children's School
Jazz up your Cinco de Mayo plans at the Children’s
School Benefit Concert and Silent Auction from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Thursday,
May 5 in the Student Union Pub.
Bay Area jazz musician David Ewell is featured
at this event, performing his signature brand of jazz music. Ewell,
who has played with The Supplicants and Lavay Smith, will be joined
by friends from the Bay Area improvisational jazz scene for the concert.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase in
the Pub. Donations by cash or check will be accepted at the door.
The low-key silent auction promises additional entertainment and a
great deal on a variety of fun items, with cash or check accepted from
the winning bidders, say organizers. During the earlier evening hours,
this is a child-friendly event. For more information, contact the Children’s
School at 4-2230.
CalPERS Celebrates Tenth Anniversary of Long-Term
Care Program
The tenth anniversary of the CalPERS Long-Term Care
Program represents a milestone in helping California public employees
plan for the serious issue of long-term care, says Susan Zito of Human
Resources. "The program has proven itself to be stable, secure
and has steadily grown in popularity."
The application period this year is from May 1 through
Sept. 30. The program is offering additional plan options to choose
from this year, which makes it even more attractive and affordable,
she says. All California public employees (including non-CalPERS
members), retirees, their spouses, parents, parents-in-law, and siblings
age 18 or older are eligible to apply.
To request an application kit, call 1-800-338-2244
or visit www.calpers.ca.gov.
Application materials will be sent in early May.
