"It Matters!" Party a Success for Voter Registration

The “It Matters!” party and art reception on Sept. 25 had huge success in registering students to vote.  Sonoma County Registrar Janice Atkinson was on hand to answer questions, help students with address changes and encourage voter participation. Many of the artists from the “I Express . . .” art exhibit were also present to talk about their work and the importance of voting, and everyone had a piece of red, white and blue cake!

Oct. 20 is the last day to register to vote or make a change of address if necessary. For more information on registration and the election, the University Library has compiled many sources on the following web page, “Elections, how to be an informed voter.”

Park 'n' Pedal Through Rohnert Park

Dust off that bicycle taking up space in your garage, pump up the tires and join members of the Rohnert Park Bicycle Advisory Committee and Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, on Sun., Oct. 12 for a safe, fun-filled informative ride along the many bicycle paths and lanes throughout Rohnert Park. Meet at the Spreckles Center parking lot at 10:00 a.m. for a brief lesson in bicycle safety before heading out. Eventually, cyclists will end up in downtown Cotati for coffee or brunch, before returning to the Spreckles' parking lot.

“I work here on campus and I’ve been helping to organize a community bicycle ride in Rohnert Park, so that members of the community and beyond can become familiar with how to get around [town] via bicycle,” said Carson Williams, Financial Aid Representative.

The purpose of the ride is to acquaint those residents who are not experienced cyclists or would like to ride more often but have no one to ride with, with the many bike facilities in Rohnert Park and how to travel around town safely. The ride is open to riders of all levels, ten years of age and older. Spandex is not required and no one will be left behind. For more information call Barbara Denlis at (707) 921-9704.
