On September 19, Sonoma State University co-sponsors the Celebration of the Russian River Forum. The forum kicks off a Celebration of the Russian River and its Watershed, a nine day gathering of people in all the communities along the Russian River to honor the spirit of the Russian River and the gifts it has given. The gatherings run from September 19-27.
The September 19 forum at SSU includes an introduction by SSU President Ruben Armi'ana and presentations by Dr. Breck Parkman ("The Bear on the Flag: History, Culture & Ecology"), Dr. Fred Euphrat ("Past and Present Natural History"), Ms. Laurel Marcus ("What We Do Today Will Preserve the Biosystem"), and Dr. Dan Markwyn ("Human Interaction with the River"). The presentations will be followed by music, poetry and dance at the SSU Lakes.
