International Journalists and Authors to Speak About Corporate Media

Is there truth and accuracy in the corporate media? Does the media cover or fluff certain news of the world? Find out at an evening of discussion and questions on the truth and accuracy in the corporate media world at Sonoma State University.

This event, presented by SSU's Project Censored, will be held on February 19 at 7:00 PM in the Warren Auditorium and will feature three international journalists and authors:

Michel Collon: Journalist for the weekly paper Solidaire, in Belgium. Also author of Poker Menteur, 1998 The Great Powers, Yugoslavia and the Next Wars, and Attention Medias, Media manipulation in the Gulf War.

Sara Flounders: Co-coordinator of the International Action Center in New York and San Francisco. Author of Bosnia Tragedy, 1995, Organizer of the 1991 International War Crimes Tribunal on the U.S. Role in the Gulf War and editor of The Children are Dying: the Impact of the Sanctions on Iraq (1996)

Diana Johnstone: Paris resident, university lecturer, Former European editor of In These Times (1990's). Press officer for Green members of the European Parliament, Former journalist for Agence France Press and Associated Press.

There will also be discussants from SSU, Andy Merrifield, professor of political science and Peter Phillips, associate professor of sociology. Tickets for the event are $5 for adults and $3 for students. For more information, call (707) 664-2500.
