"Terroirs of Sonoma County: The Relationship Between Soils, Wine and Geology" will be the subject of a talk by Professor Terry Wright of the Sonoma State University Geology Department. The talk will take place at noon in Darwin Hall 337 on the SSU campus on Thursday, November 4.
The French concept of "Terroirs," or the entire wine-making environment from rock to soil, the vineplant and its interaction with climate and the local environment has become one of the driving forces in the development of the Sonoma County wine industry. Wright will discuss the relationship between geologic history, soils and the production of grapes.
A parking fee of $1.50 (six quarters) is required in all general lots, Monday through Thursday until 10 p.m. Reserve parking by special permit only.
