Latin America Series of Informal Talks in Spring 2000

A series of talks about Latin America will take place at Sonoma State University this spring. Talks are held from 3-4 p.m. in Stevenson Hall, room 2050. These free lectures are open to the public. Speakers are:

March 16 "The Causes of Poverty in Latin America: A Cross Country Econometric Investigation." Carlos Benito, SSU Economics Department.

March 30 "The Problem of Food Distribution in Latin America," Susan Hagius, Sonoma State University Library.

April 20 "Education in Chile," Ellie Galvez, Diversity Education Project.

May 4 "Political and Economic Transformation in Cuba," Robert McNamara, SSU Political Science Department.

May 11 "Education in Brazil," John Rugebregt, Maria Carrillo teacher and Miriam Hutchins, North Bay International Studies Project.

May 18 "Latin America: Live and on the air in your home, office or at nearest beach," Jeffrey Reader, SSU Modern Languages Department.

Additional topics and speakers may be scheduled on alternate Thursdays throughout the semester.

A parking fee of $1.50 (six quarters) is required in all general lots, Monday through Thursday until 10 p.m., Friday until 5 p.m. Reserve parking by special permit only.
