Dr. Saeid Rahimi Selected Dean of School of Natural Sciences

Dr. Saeid Rahimi has been selected as the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences at Sonoma State University.

Rahimi has served as interim dean of the School for the past 10 months and has been instrumental in developing the masters in computer and engineering science program.

Rahimi has moved up the ranks from faculty member to administrator over the past 19 years at SSU, while retaining his connection to teaching and learning. "He is one of those fine individuals who can walk that line, always with the best intentions for faculty, staff, students and the University foremost in his mind," said Bernie Goldstein, Provost.

Always on the lookout for new and interesting programs, this year Rahimi initiated the Science Teacher Education Program which is a single subject matter preparation program in which future teachers study biology, chemistry, geology, and physics. Revision, innovation, and change are the tenets by which he has guided the School for the past 10 months as interim Dean.

Rahimi earned his Ph.D. in physics (1981) from Pennsylvania State University, his M.S. in physics (1973) and his B.S. in physics (1971) from Shiraz University in Iran. At SSU, over the past 19 years, he has taught more than 24 different elementary and advanced physics, optics, and electronics courses and laboratories.

He lives with his wife, Aram, and two sons in Penngrove.
