Topic: What Does Math Look Like Through a Social Justice Lens? Speaker: Kim Seashore, SFSU. This talk, drawing on the work of Bill Tate, Eric Gutstein, and Cathy O'Neal, will discuss how math is intertwined with advancement of social justice in several different ways: How math is taught, how access to math education is granted and the access that math education provides to other fields, and how math can be used to either foster inequity or promote justice. We will do tasks that are both fun and highlight the ways that math can promote an equity agenda. Series supported by Instructionally-Related Activities Funds. Coffee, Tea & Cookies at 3:45 p.m.
