CORRECTION: New Cal-OSHA Workplace Safety Standards

Monday, June 21, 2021, 9:30am

TO: All Employees

FR: Jeff Banks, AVP for Administration and Finance, Human Resources and Missy Brunetta, Director for Emergency Services and Associate Risk Manager

We are writing to correct information shared in an earlier email sent to all employees on Friday, June 18 at 4:07 PM.

The new workplace standards announced by Cal-OSHA on June 17 are in effect in workplaces across the state.  However, the CSU system Human Resources Office informed us late Friday afternoon that it would like all campuses to refrain from adopting any changes to face mask and physical distancing requirements until the CSU offers further guidance.
While the CSU evaluates the best way to proceed with the new workplace standards, we ask that all employees, students, and guests continue to wear masks while indoors on campus. Masks also continue to be required outdoors when unable to maintain six feet of physical distance between individuals.

For the moment, relevant COVID related signage and other installations shall remain in place. Sanitation stations (hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes) will continue to be available throughout campus and our custodial teams will continue to provide frequent sanitation of high-touch surfaces throughout the day.

Regardless of vaccination status, all employees should continue to report COVID-19 symptoms or possible exposures to the COVID monitoring team at

We apologize for the confusion and invite you to contact the campus resources if you have questions regarding the implementation of the new Cal-OSHA workplace standards.
