New Building Security Card Access System

Monday, May 10, 2021, 9:15am

TO: All Employees
FR: J. Dana Twedell, AVP Facilities Operations and Planning

In an effort to increase campus security measures, starting May 2021, we are launching a new Security Card Access System for the following buildings:

  • Darwin Hall
  • Student Health Center
  • International Hall
  • Ives Hall
  • Nichols Hall
  • Physical Education Building
  • Salazar Hall
  • Schulz Information Center
  • University Police Department

An electronic access card reader will be installed on a newly designated “main entrance” to the buildings listed above. A campus map is on our website showing all buildings where the security card access will be implemented.

During regular operational hours, the buildings will be unlocked. Card access will only be required when entering a building outside of regular operational hours. People requesting after-hours access to a building must complete a key request form and get approval in compliance with the campus key policy, and process found here: http://seawolfservices.sonoma.edu/keys. Access will be issued by Seawolf Services with a valid key request form.  As part of the return to campus process, campus buildings not currently open during academic and business hours will return to normal operations on a rolling basis beginning June 7 through August 2. All key holders who have an exterior door brass key for the buildings listed above will need to return their key to Seawolf Services as required by the Key Control Policy. If a key is lost, a Lost Key form must be completed, and a lost key charge of $25 per key will apply.

We appreciate your patience and support as we transition to the new security card access system. It is our sincere effort to provide a safer, more secure environment for all our campus community. Any questions regarding this memo can be directed to me at twedell@sonoma.edu.
