TO: Campus Community
FR: Facilities Management and Information Technology
Between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 4, Facilities Management will shut down power to the Schulz Information Center. During the power outage, improvements will be made to the building to increase the availability and redundancy of the campus IT Data Center and the services it provides.
Services Not Impacted
Many of Sonoma State University’s core services have off-campus alternatives that will be available during the power outage, including the Online Services Portal, Canvas, all Google Workspace services (email, calendar, Drive, etc.), MySSU, and MyHR. The Sonoma State website will display the emergency outage page, which contains links to these services.
Services Impacted
The campus network and telephones will be offline during the power outage. This includes elevator phones, blue light phones, and the after-hours attendant for the University Police Department (707-664-4444). Incoming calls will either ring continuously or receive an error message saying, "We are sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.”
Due to the network-related disruption of building support systems, all buildings will be closed, and no entry into the space permitted, except for the Residential Community buildings.
In the event of an emergency, please call 911.
If you have questions or concerns about the scheduling of this work, please email Facilities Management at fmwo@sonoma.edu. If you have technical questions or concerns about service availability, please get in touch with the IT Helpdesk at 4-HELP (4-4357) or helpdesk@sonoma.edu.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to make these improvements.
