TO: Campus Community
FR: Missy Brunetta, Interim Senior Director for Risk Management, Emergency Services and Campus Safety Operations

Campus Community,

The Offices of Emergency Services conducted a test of our emergency notification system this morning. The test is now concluded.

This testing exercise is conducted periodically to verify that our emergency notification system is functioning as expected. The test consisted of issuing:

  • a text and voice message to subscribed mobile phones;
  • email notification to the entire campus community;
  • desktop override notifications to state-managed computers;
  • push notification to Rave Guardian safety app

You can verify or update your contact information by logging into MySSU (students) and MyHR (SSU employees). This information is added automatically to our emergency notification system for all students, faculty, and staff. If you believe you are subscribed to any of these systems but DID NOT receive a message, please email emergency@sonoma.edu.

Sonoma State University's Office of Emergency Services is managed by Risk Management & Safety Services and is responsible for maintenance of the campus Emergency Operations Plan.  The plan includes how the university will plan, respond to, and recover from various emergencies and complies with the Standardized Emergency Management Systems (SEMS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The Office of Emergency Services website also includes information on how to prepare for and respond to an emergency.

Campus evacuation drills are scheduled in the first two weeks of the fall semester.  For more information on evacuation procedures, please visit the evacuation website. Fall 2022 evacuation drills will not be announced to the campus community in advance. If you would like to request a disability related accommodation to not participate or modify your participation in evacuation drills, please email emergency@sonoma.edu or call (707) 664-3408 no later than 12 pm on Tuesday, August 30.

We appreciate your commitment to safety. If you have questions about this test or any emergency-related matters, please contact my office at emergency@sonoma.edu
