TO: Campus Community
FR: Nader Oweis, Chief of Police

REPORTED CRIME: Since May 2024, the Sonoma State University Police Department has received reports of an individual who approached at least three victims and subsequently sexually battered each of them. After a thorough investigation, officers identified Gregg David Nathan, age 50, of Santa Rosa as the suspect.

Nathan approached each victim, either on foot or on a scooter, and gained their attention by commenting about their shoes or feet. He claimed he was either a Sonoma State University student studying “kinesiology” or a Santa Rosa Junior College student studying “massage therapy,” seeking to massage their feet for “volunteer” hours. Nathan has no known affiliation with either institution.

On May 18, 2025, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Nathan on two counts of sexual battery (243.4 PC – misdemeanor) with bail set at $40,000. Nathan was arrested this afternoon and booked into the Sonoma County Jail by the Santa Rosa Police Department.
