Faculty Reassignments

TO: All Employees
FR: Emily Cutrer, President

As we continue to navigate the 2025–26 instructional planning process, we are pleased to share positive developments regarding faculty reassignment. Based on updated enrollment data and careful resource analysis, we are moving forward with reassigning several tenured and tenure-track faculty members who were previously laid off due to budget constraints.

Six tenured/tenure-track faculty have been notified of their reassignments to departments with foreseeable unmet instructional needs. Funding for these positions is being drawn from:

- Instructional funds allocated for lecturer hiring.
- Permanent base salary savings from faculty participating in FERP.

This reassignment process partially addresses the first UBAC recommendation to the President, though using internal reallocation. Further implementation of the UBAC list depends on funding being made available to the campus that has not yet been approved. The six reassignments accomplished here will reduce the number of faculty on the list for reassignment.

Please see a new set of FAQs about Faculty Reassignment on the Budget Deficit Resources webpage here.

This internal reallocation and reassignment strategy supports academic continuity, honors commitments to tenure-line faculty, and responds to student demand—all within a fiscally responsible framework. My thanks to the Provost, the Academic Affairs Associate Vice Presidents, and the Deans for their work in making these reassignments possible.
