As part of Campus Safety Week, Risk Management & Safety Services is hosting a Free Shredding Event to help our campus community securely dispose of confidential or sensitive documents.
Date: Tuesday, September 16, 2025
Location: In front of the Lucy statue outside of Schulz
Time: 10 a.m. to noon
To help us plan accordingly, please take a moment to complete this survey.
What you can bring to shred:
- Outdated business, administrative, or academic records no longer required for retention
- Drafts or working copies containing confidential information
- Departmental files with personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, addresses, phone numbers, or ID numbers
- Records containing financial, personnel, or other sensitive university information
What should NOT be placed in the shred bins:
- Books, magazines, newspapers (recycle separately)
- Cardboard, binders with metal rings, or plastics
- Electronic media (CDs, DVDs, flash drives)
Before shredding, please review and confirm that any records you intend to shred are eligible for destruction under the CSU’s Records Retention Policy (PolicyStat #18339749): CSU Records Retention Policy
