TO: Campus Community
FR: Dr. Gerald L. Jones, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students, and Acting Senior Diversity Officer

Dear Seawolves,

We know that many in our community are experiencing a range of heavy emotions, including pain, fear, and frustration, amid recent events and continuing protests across Southern California and beyond. These are incredibly difficult moments, and we want to affirm that you are not alone.

Whether you are undocumented, part of a mixed-status family, an international student, or a member of our broader campus community, we recognize the unique challenges you face and the strength it takes to move forward. Our commitment is to ensure you have the care, guidance, and resources needed to thrive academically, emotionally, and personally.

Please take a moment to review the information below, which outlines key campus protocols, upcoming events, and available support services created with you in mind.

Responding to On-Campus Immigration Related Enforcement
If you are approached by someone identifying as a federal immigration official, please follow these campus protocols:

  • Notify: If an immigration-related warrant is being served on campus, immediately contact Tramaine Austin-Dillon, Director of Institutional Equity and Belonging, at (707) 664-2316, or email [email protected].
  • Wait: The individual should remain on-site until the Director arrives. If the warrant concerns someone present, stay with them and call the SSU Police Department at 9-1-1 to assist with keeping peace.
  • Witness / Document: If it is safe to do so, observe the interaction. Send a summary of what you witnessed -- including officer credentials and any campus staff involved -- to [email protected].

Do Not:

  • Accept any warrant, court order, or legal documents from immigration officers.
  • Disclose or discuss personal information about any campus member.
  • Engage in any physical confrontation or interference.
