FR: Tyson Hill, Associate Vice President for Risk Management & Safety Services
As part of the university’s emergency preparedness, we are conducting a test of our emergency notification system tomorrow, September 17.
Testing of the emergency notification system is conducted periodically. During this test, a notification will be sent to the university email and mobile and business phone contact information provided in your MySSU or MyHR accounts. University-managed computers connected to the SSU network will also receive a notification on your screen.
You can verify or update your contact information by logging into MySSU (students) and MyHR (employees). This information is added automatically to our emergency notification system for all students, faculty, and staff. When entering your mobile phone number in MySSU and MyHR, please make sure to label it as a “Mobile” to ensure you receive text message alerts.
Only SSU phone extensions listed in MyHR as “Business” will be contacted. Please do not use shared or reception phone lines. If you would like a department reception or shared line to be added to the system, please email [email protected]. Please note that any changes made today in MySSU and MyHR will be updated in the notification system overnight and will be included in the test. In lieu of including your mobile phone number in MySSU or MyHR, you may opt-in to the SSU emergency notification system by texting SSUALERTS to 67283.
While safety is top of mind, we invite you to join us at the Seawolf SAFE SSU Fair today, Tuesday, September 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Stevenson/Darwin Quad. Learn practical tips on emergency preparedness (earthquakes, wildfires, power outages), explore resources on reporting and campus safety, connect with campus and community partners, and pick up free giveaways.
