Water Quality Update

Sunday, October 12, 2025, 9:00pm

TO: Campus Community
FR: Tyson Hill, Associate Vice President, Risk Management and Safety Services

Thanks to steady progress made over the past 24 hours in flushing out campus water lines and testing fresh water, the campus water supply has been determined to be safe in all buildings and residential villages.

Confirmation of the safe water supply also will be made through the campus emergency notification system (SSU Alert). Classes and campus operations will proceed as normal on Monday, October 13.

The water has tested in each building well below the EPA maximum limit and at SSU’s normal operating levels. In the unlikely event that you smell chlorine in the water, please let the faucet run for one minute. If you smell fumes for a sustained period, please contact Facilities Management.

Please check https://ehs.sonoma.edu/environmental-management/drinking-water frequently for updates on specific campus buildings.
